Aleh Ferreira is an acclaimed London-based singer and songwriter with a distinctive soul voice. Brazilian by birth and enthusiast of Afro-Brazilian music, Aleh has been hugely influenced by the sounds of Jorge Ben Jor, Tim Maia, Marvin Gaye and Bob Marley, leading to the grooviest of musical blends, which merges samba, funk and música popular brasileira (MPB) in an exceptional manner. In his early days, Aleh played in the bands Bantus and Banda Black Rio, contributing to the revival of the latter, which opened The Wailers’ show in Brazil and featured in more than 50 countries. Internationally awarded as a composer, performer and screen producer, Aleh has recorded three renowned albums, including several soundtracks for cinema and TV, like “Mozart in the Jungle”, an American comedy-drama developed by Roman Coppola, and the single “Dona da Banca”, better known as the soundtrack of “A Diarista”, a famous Brazilian TV show. Considered as one of the greatest talents of contemporary Brazilian music, Aleh has shared the stage with famous fellows musicians, such as Seu Jorge, Ana Carolina, Marcelo Yuka and Daniela Mercury; has headlined and participated in numerous tours and festivals around Europe, including Spain, France (Festival du Cinéma Brésilien), the FIFA Fan Fest in South Africa, the UK, Estonia , Finland; and has performed in the most important jazz venues in London, including Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and the Jazz Café.He will soon release a new single called “Tempo de mudar” (“Time to change”). The song urges us to reflect about how we can improve our relationship with fellow human beings and the environment. Humanity has been weakened by the advent of a virus that affects the whole planet, requiring from all of us a change in our habits and behaviour and a reconsideration of what our individual and collective duties are. The song fosters a reflection about these unique times and suggests how we can navigate through them.
